Hello from SAWAS!

We currently have two pups in particular need of fostering because they are very stressed in the shelter environment. Fosters should be prepared for *potentially* longer term scenarios, and be familiar with or willing to research socialization and basic training methods.

Halo is absolutely TERRIFIED in the shelter environment. She's familiar & friendly with other pups and kids, but is scared of most men. Cats unknown! Goals include socializing her with men & people in general to reduce fear, encouraging trust/confidence, plus reducing her overall stress. She has the sweetest, FUNNIEST personality once she opens up to you, and is quite the snuggler!

There's one staff member who has been able to get her out of her kennel, and Halo has been spending time in their office where she becomes a totally different pup. She still displays fear of strangers at first, but warms up with slow intros. She's happy to follow you around and play quietly with her toys on the office couch! She's already gotten slightly better, but is VERY upset when put back in her kennel surrounded by barking and discomfort. She's a bit timid on the leash, but walks well enough and looks to her walker for guidance.

Niko has been with us since September 2025 when he came in as a stray puppy with a serious case of mange. We got him healed up, but he needs some basic training & reinforcement on potty-training (though we suspect his previous issues in his Foster-to-Adopt home were environmental), plus medicated weekly baths to continue his skin's recovery. He also has a minor condition called entropion (his eyelashes grow inward instead of outward), which means he'll need to be taken to our vet at some point for a simple surgery. Niko is a sweet, bow-legged little guy who is good with the trifecta - KIDS, CATS & DOGS, though he's a roughhouser, according to his previous FTA mom. He walks great on a leash and tends to be a velcro dog.

If you think you can open up your homes to help these babies, please fill out an application:
