Friends of SVASC
Friends of Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center is our fundraising partner for the many shelter animals we receive in need of extensive medical or behavioral care. The Friends fundraise and facilitate the medical treatment needed to make these animals healthier, but also more adoptable. Since forming in July 2019, the Friends of SVASC has been able to help over 104 animals. We are so thankful for their efforts. If you would like to donate to the shelter, please donate to the Friends of SVASC.
Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center is the proud recipient of funding from Maddie's Fund®, helping to achieve a no-kill nation #ThanksToMaddie.
Maddie's Fund is a family foundation founded in 1994 by Workday co-founder Dave Duffield and his wife, Cheryl, who have endowed the Foundation with more than $300 million. Since then, they have awarded more than $153 million in grants toward increased community lifesaving, shelter medicine education and pet adoptions across the U.S. The Duffields named Maddie's Fund after their miniature schnauzer Maddie, who always made them laugh and comforted them during stressful business times when Dave was launching a startup software company. Maddie was with Dave and Cheryl from 1987-1997 and continues to inspire them today.
When you visit area Petsmart stores, be sure to say hello to the four-legged friends available for adoption. Some of our adoptable kitties have been featured in their Waynesboro and Charlottesville, Virginia stores, and we have been lucky enough to hold regular adoption events at various Petsmart locations as well.
