Our Community Assistance Pet Pantry, organized and run by the non-profit group Friends of SVASC, began as a response to the large numbers of community members forced to surrender their pets due to an inability to provide basic essentials, like food and cat litter, for their pets. The goal of the SVASC Community Assistance Pet Pantry is to keep pets where they belong: at home, with their families. By offering these resources at no cost, we have been able to prevent unnecessary surrenders and significantly lower the euthanasia rates for our community.
While we receive government funding to provide for the animals in our care, this program is an additional, non-mandated program for community animals. Therefore, this program is entirely funded by the generous donations of local businesses, community partners, and individuals.
The SVASC Community Assistance Pet Pantry is located at the shelter. If you are in need of pet supplies, please check-in at the front desk during business hours.
We are grateful to be able to offer these items to our community members in need. Please note that this supply varies often based on donations, and can be limited. Items available may include:
- Dry cat and dog food
- Canned/wet dog food
- Cat and dog treats
- Vitamins/Suppliments
- Small Animal/Reptile Supplies
